I(current) = Q(charge)/t(time)

Time = 10 mins

In seconds, 600 seconds

Current = 0.5 A

Therefore, Q = I × t

= 0.5 × 600

= 300coulombs...

Question:-

A current of 0.5 Ampere is drawn by a filament of electric bulb for 10 minutes. Find the amount of electrical energy that flows through the circuit.

Full Solution with explanation:-

  • So, first of all let us know what are given in the query.

Given that:-

Current, I = 0.5 A

Time Taken, t = 10 min

  • Let us also know what we need to find out

To Find:-

Electric Current, Q = ?

  • So , by this we got to know which formula is applicable for the required value. But firstly , we know that the SI unit of time taken is second so we will substitute it.

Substitution of Time taken, t :-

Time Taken , t = 10 min

Time Taken , t = 10 × 60 second

Time Taken , t = 600 second

  • So, the time taken will be 600 sec. Now with no further delay let's do this with the required formula.

Required Formula:-

I = Q/t

  • Let's put the values

We know,

➦ I = Q/t

➦ 0.5 = Q/600

➦ 0.5 × 600 = Q

➦ Q = 0.5 × 600

➦ Q = 300.0

➦ Q = 300 C

  • Finally we got the required value of Q. Let us also know some Quantity and SI unit regarding this chapter of electricity ( Physics ).

1) Electric Current ( I ) -------------- Ampere ( A )

2) Electric charge ( Q ) -------------- Columb ( C )

3) Time taken ( t ) -------------- Second ( sec )

4) Potential difference ( v ) -------------- Volt ( v )

5) Work done ( w ) -------------- Joule ( J )

5) Resistance ( R ) -------------- Ohm ( Ω )
