A current of 10A exists in a conductor Assuming that this current is entirely due to the
now of electrons (a) find the number of electrons crossing the area of cross section per
second, (b) if such a current is maintained for one hour find the net flow of charge

Answer:

I = 10 A

t =1 h = 60 x 60 = 3600 s

 I = Q/t

Thus,

Q = I x t

Q = 10 x 3600 = 36000 C

 Thus, no. of electrons crossing area of cross section per second is

Q = ne

n = Q/e = 36000/(1.6 x 10-19) = 22.5 x 1022
