Given : a customer paid 330 for 220 telephone calls.

the telephone charges increased by 10%

To Find : what should be the percentage reduction in the number of calls in the order to keep the expenditure over telephone

Solution:

a customer paid 330 for 220 telephone calls.

=> Paid per call = 330/220   = 3/2

the telephone charges increased by 10%

=> Charges per call = (3/2) + (10/100)(3/2)

= (3/2)(1  + 1/10)

=(3/2)(11/10)

= 33/20

Expenditure = 330

Number of calls = 330/(33/20)  = 200

Reduction in calls = 220 - 200 = 20

percentage reduction in the number of calls = (20/220) * 100

= 200/22

= 100/11

= 9.09 %

9.09 % reduction in the number of calls in the order to keep the expenditure over telephone
