Answer :

  • The cost of price of the cycle is ₹1625

Given :

  • A cycle was sold at a gain of 10%. Had it been sold for ₹ 65 more, the gain would have been 14%.

To find :

  • Find the cost price of the cycle

Solution :

  • Let the cost price of the cycle be x

Given,

SP when the cycle was sold at a gain of 14% so,

  • 14x/100 = 114x/100

And also Given,

SP when cycle was sold at a gain of 10%

  • 110x/100

And also Given,

  • it had been sold for ₹65 so,

Substituting the value :

↦ 114x/100 = 110x/100 = 65

↦ 4x/100 = 65

↦ x(65 × 100) / 4

↦ x(6500) / 4

↦ x = 6500/4

↦ x = 1625 ₹

Hence,

The cost of price of the cycle is 1625

Verification :

↦ 4x/100 = 65

↦ 4(1625)/100 = 65

↦ 6500/100 = 65

65 = 65

Let x be the cost price of the cycle

Selling price when the cycle is sold at a gain of 14%

= 14x/100 = 114x/100

Selling price when cycle is sold at gain of 10%

= 114x/100 = 110x/100 = 260

= 4x/100 = 260

= x(260 * 100) / 4

= x(26000) / 4

= 6500

Therefore, the cost price of the cycle is Rs.6500
