A cyclist covered 3 1/2 km in three hours. He covered 2 1/4 km in first two hours. What distance did he cover in the third hour?

total distance covered=3.5 km

dist. covered in 2 hrs= 2.25 km

dist. covered in 3rd hr

= total distance covered- dist. covered in 2 hrs

= 3.5-2.25

= 1.25km
