FORMULA TO BE IMPLEMENTED

The speed of a body is defined as :

 \displaystyle \:  \sf{ \:  Speed = \:  \frac{Distance  \: Covered }{Time \:  Taken}   }

GIVEN

A cyclist covers 950m in 5 minutes

TO DETERMINE

The of the cyclist in km/hour

CALCULATION

The total distance covered by the cyclist

 =  \: 950 \: metre

 = 0.95 \:  \: km

Total time taken

 = 5 \:  \: minutes

 =  \displaystyle \:  \frac{5}{60}  \:  \: hour

 =  \displaystyle \:  \frac{1}{12}  \:  \: hour

So the speed of the cyclist

 \displaystyle \:  \sf{ \:  = \:  \frac{Distance  \: Covered }{Time \:  Taken}   }

 \displaystyle \:  \sf{ \: = \:  \frac{0.95 }{ \frac{1}{12} }   } \:  \: km/ hour

 \displaystyle \:  \sf{ \: = \:  (0.95 \times 12)  } \:  \: km/ hour

 \displaystyle \:  \sf{ \: = \:  11.4 } \:  \: km/ hour
