Question :-

A cyclist covers a distance of 40 m in 10 sec. calculate the speed of the cyclist in

1. m/s

2. km/h.

Given :-

Distance covered by cyclist , d = 40 m

▪Time taken, t = 10 sec

To Find :-

Speed of the cyclist

Solution :-

We know,

\bigstar\:\underline{\boxed{\bf{\blue{speed=\dfrac{distance\:travelled}{time\:taken}}}}}

Substituting the given values, we get

⟹ Speed , v = 40/10

⟹ v = 4 m/s

Converting m/s to km/h :-

To convert multiply with 3.6

Hence,

v = 4 × 3.6 km/h

=14.4 km/h

Therefore,

Therefore, speed of the cyclist, v = 4 m/s or 14.4 km/h.

Know more

Speed (v) is a way of measuring how quickly something moving fast.

▪It's a scalar quantity.

▪S.I unit of speed is = m/s

▪Dimension of speed = LT^-1
