Solution :

Given:

✏ Time requires for cyclist to complete one round = 2min

✏ Radius of circular path = 110m

To Find:

✏ Distance and displacement after 15min

Concept:

✏ Distance is defined as total path length covered by body and displacement is defined as the shortest distance between two points.

Calculation:

✏ No.of turns after 15 min = 15/2 = 7.5m

  • Calculation of distance

 \implies \sf \: distance = 2\pi{r} \times turns \\  \\  \implies \sf \: distance = 2 \times 3.14 \times 110 \times 7.5 \\  \\  \implies \sf \:  \boxed{ \sf{ \red{distance = 5181 \: m}}}

  • Calculation of displacement

 \implies \sf \: displacement = 2r \\  \\  \implies \sf \: displacement = 2 \times 110 \\  \\  \implies \:  \boxed{ \sf{ \blue{displacement = 220 \: m}}}

Additional information:

  • Distance is scalar quantity.
  • Displacement is vector quantity.
