A cyclist speeding at 18 km/h on a level road takes a sharp circular turn of radius 3m without reducing the speed and without bending towards the circle of the circular path.

The coefficient of static friction between the tyres and radius is 0.1.will be the cyclist slip?

Maximum velocity of the cyclist is defined as the:

v = √ μrg

v = √ 0.1×3×10 = 1.732 m/s

This is the maximum velocity with which cyclist can take the turn.

But velocity of the cyclist is 18 km/h = 5 m/s

Hence cyclist will get slip.

Answer:cyclist will slip

Explanation:v=18km/h=5m/s

r=3m

mv×mv<=f

v×v=5×5

=25

Coff of friction rg=0.1×3×10

=3

The cond is not satisfied

Hence the cyclist will slip.
