Given :

• A cyclist Travels 36 kilometre in 3 hours and a motorist Travels 96 km in 2 hours

To Find :

• Ratio of their speeds

Solution :

\implies \large \sf Speed\:=\: \dfrac{Distance}{Time} \\

Case 1 : Cyclist

Distance = 36 km

Time = 3 hr

\implies \sf Speed \:=\: \dfrac{36}{3} \\

\implies \sf Speed \:=\: 12\: km/hr \\

Case 2 : Motorist

Distance = 96 km

Time = 2 hr

\implies \sf Speed \:=\: \dfrac{96}{2} \\

\implies \sf Speed \:=\: 48\: km/hr  \\

RATIO OF SPEEDS :

\implies \sf \dfrac{Case\:1}{Case\:2} \:=\: \dfrac{12\:km/hr}{48\:km/hr} \\

\implies \sf \dfrac{Case\:1}{Case\:2} \:=\: \dfrac{1}{4} \\

Ratio of speeds = 1 : 4
