Distance in one hour = 1 km

Distance in second hour = 0.5 km

Distance in third hour = 0.3 km

We know that,

Average speed = total distance /total time

i) Average speed in km/hr

ν = D/T

= 0.6km/hr

ii) Average speed in m/s

ν = 0.6* 5/8

= 0.167m/s

The average velocity is 0.6 km/hr and 0.167 m/s.
