A cyclist travels a distance of 12 km from A to B and then moves a distance of 5 km at right angle to AB. Calculate the (i) distance moved (ii) displacement of the cyclist.

The distance traveled by the cyclist = 12 km + 5 km = 17 km

The displacement covered = \sqrt{12^{2} +{5^{2} } = 13 km
