A cylinder and a cone have equal bases.
The height of the cylinder is 3 cm and the
area of its base is 100 cm^2. The cone is placed
upon the cylinder. Volume of the solid
figure so formed is 500 cm”. Find the total

Answer:

9 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

volume of cylinder = π r^2 h

                               = area* h

                               = 100cm^2*3cm

                               =300cm^3

total volume of solid= 500 cm^3

radius of cylinder=π  r^2 h

                            =22/7*r^2 *3 = 300

                            = r^2=(300*7)/66

                            =r^2=700/22

volume of cone=500-300=200

volume of cone= π *r^2*h/3

                         =22/7*700/22*h/3=200

                         =h=200*7/22*22/700*3

                         =h=6 cm

Total height= height of cone+height of cylinder

                   = 6 cm + 3 cm

                   = 9 cm
