Given:

A cylinder is 21 cm tall and has a circular base with 10cm  radius

To Find:

Lateral surface area of the cylinder

Solution:

Lateral surface area is the area of the curved surface of the cylinder.

The formula to determine the lateral surface area of a cylinder is as follows:-

Curved surface area = 2πrh...........................(i)

(where r is the radius of the circular base and h is the height of the cylinder)

According to the question, r = 10cm and h=21cm

Putting the given values in eq(i), we get

Curved surface area = (2 x 22/7 x 10 x 21) = 1320cm²

Hence, the lateral surface area of the given cylinder is 1320cm²
