Both CO and N2 have molar mass of 28 gm / mol
hence, equal masses of these gases also have equal mol
there fore their partial pressures are same

Question:

A cylinder was filled with gaseous mixture containing CO N2 (equal masses). The ratio of their partial pressure in cylinder are???

Solution:

Let the equal mass be x.

P(N2) / P(CO) = X(N2) / X(CO)

where, P = partial pressure , X = mole fraction.

and let n be number of moles,

n(N2) / n(CO) = x*28 / 28*x =  1

Hence, P (N2) = P(CO).

Since, partial pressure is equal, thereby, ratio is 1:1
