A cylinder is of diameter 42cm and height 152cm. Find the volume of the cylinder and also find the surface area of the cylinder
Answers
Given :
- Diameter of a cylinder = 42 cm
- Height of the cylinder = 152 cm
To find :
- Volume of the cylinder
- Surface area of the cylinder
Concept :
Formula to calculate radius of the cylinder :-
- Radius = Diameter ÷ 2
Formula to calculate volume of cylinder :-
- Volume of cylinder = πr²h
Formula to calculate surface area of cylinder :-
- Surface area of cylinder = 2πr(h + r)
Solution :
Firstly, calculate the radius of cylinder :-
Radius of the cylinder :-
Using formula,
★ Radius = Diameter ÷ 2
Substituting the given values,
→ Radius = 42 ÷ 2
→ Radius = 21
Radius of the cylinder = 21 cm
Volume of cylinder :-
Using formula,
★ Volume of cylinder = πr²h
Substituting the given values,
→ Volume = 22/7 × (21)² × 152
→ Volume = 22/7 × 21 × 21 × 152
→ Volume = 22 × 3 × 21 × 152
→ Volume = 210,672
Volume of the cylinder = 210,672 cm³
Surface area of cylinder :-
Using formula,
★ Surface area of cylinder = 2πr(h + r)
Substituting the given values,
→ Surface area = 2 × 22/7 × 21(152 + 21)
→ Surface area = 2 × 22 × 3(173)
→ Surface area = 22,836
Surface area of cylinder = 22,836 cm²

Know More :
- Diameter = 2 × Radius
- Surface area of sphere = 4πr²
- Volume of cone = 1/3 πr²h
- Curved surface area of cone = πrl
- Total surface area of cone = πrl + πr²h
- Total surface area of cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr²
- Area of circle = πr²
- Circumference = 2πr
Answer:
Diameter of cylinder = 42cm
Radius of cylinder = D÷2 = 42÷2 = 21
Height of cylinder = 152cm
Volume of cylinder = πr2 h
If using this step you will find the volume and In case of surface area there is a formula 2πr( r+h) then you will find the surface area
