Hi ,
Dimensions of the cylinder given in
the problem ,
Radius of the cylinder = r units
Let the height of the cylinder = h units
According to the problem,
Cylinder dipped vertically to half the
height in a bucket full of purple paint.
The area of the surface which get
painted = ( base area of the cylinder +
surface area if the half cylinder )
= pi × r ^2 + 2 × pi × r × h/ 2
= pi × r ^2 + pi × r × h
= pi × r ( r + h) square units.
I hope this will useful to you.
