A cylinder whose height is equal to its diameter has the same volume as a sphere of radius 4 cm. Calculate the radius of base of the cylinder correct to one decimal place.

radius of sphere is given..=4cm

volume of sphere =4/3πr^3

=)4/3*22/7*4*4*4

=>π*4/3*4*4*4

=)4/3π*4^3

now ,let the radius of cylinder =r.
diameter become ,2*r

volume of cylinder.=πr^2h ..,where given diameter is equal to height .so height is 2r.also

volume of cylinder =π*(r)^2*2r..

=>2πr^3


but it is also given that volume of cylinder is equal to sphere ..

so,,,2πr^3=4/3π*4^3

=)r^3=2/3*4^3

=>r^3=2/3*4^3

=)r^3=128/3

r=3√128./3

r=4 3^√2/3 Ans.
