A cylindrical container has a diameter 28cm and contains sufficient water in it to submerge a cuboid 11 cm × 7cm × 16 cm. Find the rise in the level of water when the cuboid is submerged in it.

Now diameter of cylinder = 28 cm  

So radius will be 14 cm

Given when cuboid is completely submerged, so  volume of cylindrical portion formed by original water level and after increase of water .

= volume of cuboid.=  π r^2 h

11 x 7 x 16 = 22/7 x 14 x h

22/7 x 14 x h = 11 x 7 x 16

44 h = 77 x 16

  h = 28 cm

So rise in water level will be 28 cm
