A cylindrical container with diameter of base 42
cm contains sufficient water to submerge a
rectangular solid of iron with dimensions
22 cm x 14 cm x 10-5 cm. Find the rise in level
of the water when the solid is submerged.

Step-by-step explanation:

When the solid is submerged in water it displaces its own volume.

The volume of the rectangular block is :

Volume = Length × Width × height

Volume = 22 × 14 × 10.5 = 3234 cm³

The volume of a cylinder = πr²h

The rise in height is :

3234 = 22/7 × (42/2) × h

3234 = 22/7 × 21 × h

3234 = 66h

h = 3234/66

h = 49 cm

The water rises by 49 cm
