Answer :

›»› The curved surface area of cylinder is 1760 cm².

›»› The total surface area of cylinder is 2992 cm².

Given :

  • A cylindrical drum has a height of 20 cm and base radius of 14 cm.

To Find :

  • Curved surface area of cylinder.
  • Total surface area of cylinder.

Solution :

  • Radius = 14 cm.
  • Height = 20 cm.

As we know that

→ CSA of cylinder = 2πrh

→ CSA of cylinder = 2 * 22/7 * 14 * 20

→ CSA of cylinder = 2 * 22 * 2 * 20

→ CSA of cylinder = 44 * 2 * 20

→ CSA of cylinder = 88 * 20

→ CSA of cylinder = 1760

Hence, the curved surface area of cylinder is 1760 cm².

As we know that

→ TSA of cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr

→ TSA of cylinder = 2πr(h + r)

→ TSA of cylinder = 2 * 22/7 * 14(20 + 14)

→ TSA of cylinder = 2 * 22/7 * 14 * 34

→ TSA of cylinder = 2 * 22 * 2 * 34

→ TSA of cylinder = 44 * 2 * 34

→ TSA of cylinder = 88 * 34

→ TSA of cylinder = 2992

Hence, the total surface area of cylinder is 2992 cm².

Extra Brainly Knowledge :

  • Volume of cylinder = πr²h.
  • TSA of cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr².
  • Volume of cuboid = l * b * h.
  • CSA of cuboid = 2(l + b)h.
  • TSA of cuboid = 2(lb + bh + lh).
  • CSA of cube = 4a².
  • TSA of cube = 6a².
  • Volume of cube = a³.

Where,

  • The value of π is 22/7 or 3.14.
  • r is the Radius.
  • h is the Height.
  • l is the Length.
  • b is the Breadth.
  • a is the Side.
