Increase in volume of cylinder = volume of sphere

Let increase in volume of cylinder be =πr2h, where r is its radius and h is its height.

So, πr2h=34πr3

⇒16πh=34π33 where radius of the cylinder=4cm and radius of the sphere=3cm

⇒h=34×1627=1636=49=2.25cm

∴ water rises by 2.25cm in the vessel.
