A cylindrical lawn roller has a height of 3m and a radius of 42cm. A rectangular lawn with length 84m and breadth 66m is to be leveled using the lawn roller. The roller is moved only once over any area. What will be the minimum distance covered by the lawn roller?

Since only the curved portion of the roller shall level the lawn

Therefore area of the curved surface=2πrh =2×22/7×0.42m×3m

=79.2 m

Now,

since the distance covered is to be found

Therefore,

circumference of the base =distance covered

Distance covered=2πr

=2×22/7×0.42m

=2.64m
