The cost of painting the curved surface of the pillar is Rs 68.75

Solution:

Given that, cylindrical pillar has:

Diameter = 50 cm

Radius = \frac{ diameter }{2}\\\\Radius = \frac{50}{2} = 25

Radius = 25 cm

25 cm = 0.25 m

r = 0.25 m

Height = 3.5 m

Find the curved surface area:

CSA = 2 \pi r h\\\\CSA = 2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 0.25 \times 3.5\\\\CSA = 5.5\ m^2

Find the cost of painting the curved surface of the pillar at the rate of 12.50 per square meter

1\ m^2 = Rs. 12.50

Therefore,

5.5\ m^2 = 12.50 \times 5.5 = 68.75

Thus the cost of painting the curved surface of the pillar is Rs 68.75

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

the height as h : 3.5m or 350cm

radius as r : 50cm/2  25cm

cost of painting = 12.5  rupees

csa of cylinder = 2πrh

=> 2*22/7*25*350

=>44/7*8750

=> 44*1250

=> 55000cm²

=> 5.5m² = csa

=> cost of painting = 5.5 * 12.5

=> 68.75 rupees

thus the total cost of painting = 68.75 rupees
