Questions:-

A cylindrical pipe has inner diameter of 7cm and water flows through at it 192.5 litres per minute.Find the rate of flow in kilometre per hour,

Solution:-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We have,

Volume of water that flows per hour

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=(192.50×60) litres

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=(192.50×60×1000) cm³ .......(1)

•Inner diameter of the pipe=7cm

•Inner radius of the pipe =7/2cm =3.5 c

Let h cm be the length of the column of water that flows in one hour

Clearly ,water column forms a cylinder of radius 3.5 cm and length h cm.

Volume of water that flows in one hour

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=π r²h cm³

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀=22/7×(3.5)²×h cm³ .......(2)

From (1) and (2) ,we have

➟22/7×3.5×3.5×h =192.50×60×1000

➟h =(192.50×60×1000×7)/(22×3.5×3.5) cm

=300000 cm

➟h=3km

Hence, the rate of flows of water is 3 km per hour
