Cylindrical pipe is cut into 4 pieces 1:2:3:4.

  • Let the total length be L
  • length of each pipe will be in the ratio 1:2:3:4.
  • length of each pipe will so be:
  • L_{1} = \frac{1}{10} ; L_{2} = \frac{1}{5} ; L_3 = \frac{3}{10} ; L_4 = \frac{2}{5}
  • Volume of a cylinder = πr^{2}L .
  • So, as the radius remains constant and only the length changes, the volume also will be in the ratio 1:2:3:4.
