Given :  A cylindrical tank of diameter 3.5 m and height 2.6 m is being filled with water from a pipe.

the water flows at a rate of 25 litres per second.

To Find : How long will it take to fill the tank

Solution:

Volume of cylinder = πr²h

r = radius = Diameter/2  = 3.5/2  m

h = height  = 2.6 m

π = 22/7

Volume of Tank  =   (22/7) (3.5/2)² (2.6)

= 25.025 m³

1 m³ = 1000 litre

Capacity of Tank  =  25025 litre

water flows at a rate of 25 litres per second

Time taken =   25025/25  = 1001 secs

= 16 mins 41 secs
