Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Diameter (d)= 3 m = 300 cm

Height (h)= 7 cm

Speed of the pipe to empty the tank=3+4/7 = 25/7

To find:

Time to half empty the tank

Solution:

radius of cylindrical tank (r) = d/2 = 300/2 = 150 cm

Volume of cylindrical tank = πr²h

                                            =22/7 ×150×150×7

                                             = 3465000 cm²

                                             =3465 litre                        (1000 cm² = 1 litre)

Volume of half cylindrical tank = 1/2×3465

                                                   = 1732.5 litre

Time to empty half tank = 1732.5÷25/7

                                        = 485.1

                                       ≈ 485 seconds

∴ It will take 485 seconds to empty half tank.
