Given :-

radius of the cylindrical vessel = 10cm

height of the cylindrical vessel = 14cm

here, we've to find the total surface area of the cylindrical vessel.

since it's open at the top so we can't count that face.

we can use two formulas here.

one is TSA - 1base (TSA means total area including two bases. so here we'll minus one base)

or CSA + 1base (CSA is the curved surface area only so we'll add 1 base here)

it's your wish which formula you want to use.

one more thing, base = πr² (since bases of cylinder are circular)

by TSA - 1 base formula :-

= 2πr(r + h) - πr²

= 2 × 22/7 × 10(10 + 14) - (22/7 × 10 × 10)

= 440/7 × 24 - (2200/7)

= 10560/7 - 2200/7

= 8360/7

= 1194.2cm² (approximately)

by CSA + 1 base formula :-

= 2πrh + πr²

= 2 × 22/7 × 10 × 14 + (2200/7)

= (44 × 10 × 2) + 2200/7

= 880 + 2200/7

= (6160 + 2200)/7

= 8360/7

= 1194.2cm² (approximately)

Given:-

A cylindrical vessel open at the top as a radius of 10 cm, r = 10 cm

Height = 14 cm.

To find :- Total surface area of vessel.

Solution:-

As the cylinder is open at the top, we will only consider the lower curved surface, upper curved surface and the lateral surface.

Area of the cylindrical surface = 2πrh + π\bf\underbrace{Where\:r\:is \:the\:radius\:of\:the\:base\:h\:is \:the \:height}

Area of the vessel = 2 × 3.14 ×10 × 14 + 3.14 × 10 × 10

Area of the vessel = 6.28 × 140 + 3.14 × 100

Area of the vessel = 879.2 + 314

Area of the vessel = 1193.2
