A cylindrical vessel with internal diameter 10 cm and height 10.5 cm is full of water. A solid cone of base diameter 7 cm and height 6 cm is completely immersed in water. Find the value of water (i) displaced out of the cylinder. (ii) left in the cylinder.(Take π=22/7)

Volume of water displaced out of the cylinder = 77 cu.cm.

Volume of water left in the cylinder  = 748 cu.cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Height of cone = 6cm

Radius of cone = 7/2 = 3.5cm

Volume of cone = πr²h/3 = 22/7 * 3.5 * 3.5 * 6/3 = 77 cu.cm.

Height of cylinder = 10.5 cm

Inner radius = 10/2 = 5cm

Volume of cylinder = πr²h = 22/7 * 5 * 5 * 10.5 = 825 cu.cm.

(i) Volume of water displaced out of the cylinder = Volume of cone = 77 cu.cm.

(ii) Volume of water left in the cylinder = Volume of cylinder - volume of cone

   = 825 - 77

   = 748 cu.cm
