Answer

Given

  • Base of cylindrical vessel is 1/2 m
  • Height of cylindrical vessel is 1.4 m
  • Rate of tin coating is Rs. 50 per 1000 sq. cm.

Find

  • Cost of tin coating

Solution

1000 sq. cm = 1 sq. m

Given that cylindrical vessel, without lid, has to be tin-coated i.e we need to calculate the lateral surface area of cylinderical vessel

We know that ,

Lateral surface area of cylinder

=> A = 2πrh

Where,

  • A = Lateral surface area of cylinderical vessel
  • r = Radius of cylinderical vessel
  • h = Height of cylinderical vessel

For the given cylinderical vessel

  • r = 1/2 = 0.5 m
  • h = 1.4 m

Putting the above values

=> 2πrh

=> 2(22/7)(0.5)(1.4)

=> 2(22)(0.5)(0.2)

=> 1(22)(0.2)

=> 4.4 sq. m.

Cost of tin coating

Area in sq. m x Rate per sq. m

=> 4.4 x 50

=> Rs. 220

  • Hence the cost of tin coating is Rs. 220

Answer

Given

Base of cylindrical vessel is 1/2 m

Height of cylindrical vessel is 1.4 m

Rate of tin coating is Rs. 50 per 1000 sq. cm.

Find

Cost of tin coating

Solution

1000 sq. cm = 1 sq. m

Given that cylindrical vessel, without lid, has to be tin-coated i.e we need to calculate the lateral surface area of cylinderical vessel

We know that ,

Lateral surface area of cylinder

=> A = 2πrh

Where,

A = Lateral surface area of cylinderical vessel

r = Radius of cylinderical vessel

h = Height of cylinderical vessel

For the given cylinderical vessel

r = 1/2 = 0.5 m

h = 1.4 m

Putting the above values

=> 2πrh

=> 2(22/7)(0.5)(1.4)

=> 2(22)(0.5)(0.2)

=> 1(22)(0.2)

=> 4.4 sq. m.

Cost of tin coating

Area in sq. m x Rate per sq. m

=> 4.4 x 50

=> Rs. 220

Hence the cost of tin coating is Rs. 220
