Answer:

The cost of coating cylindrical vessel with tin-coating is Rs 323.4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

For cylindrical vessel

The radius of base = r = 70 cm

The height of vessel = h = 1.4 m = 140 cm

The vessel is coated both side at the rate of Rs 3.50 per 1000 sq cm

According to question

As The vessel is coated both side

So, Total area of cylindrical vessel to be coated both side =   2 (2π r h + π r²)

                                                                       = 2π r ( 2 h + r )

where r is the radius

And h is the height

Area to be coated = 2π r ( 2 h + r )

Or, Area to be coated = 2 × 3.14 × 70 cm × ( 2 × 140 cm + 70 cm )

Or, Area to be coated = 440 cm × ( 350 cm )

Area to be coated  = 154000 sq cm

Again

∵ The vessel is coated both side at the rate of Rs 3.50 per 1000 sq cm

i.e For 1000 sq cm , The cost of coating = Rs 3.50

So, For 1 sq cm , The cost of coating = Rs \dfrac{3.50}{1000}

∴    For 154000 sq cm , The cost of coating = Rs \dfrac{3.50}{1000} × 154000

i.e The cost of coating both side = Rs 539

Hence , The cost of coating cylindrical vessel with tin-coating is Rs 539    Answer

Given: The radius of a cylindrical vessel, without lid with base 70 cm and its height is 1.4 m.

Radius of base , r = 70 cm

Height , h = 1.4 m = 1.4 × 10 = 140 cm

[1 m = 100 cm ]

It is given that  tin is coated on both side of the vessel .

Area to be tin coated , A = 2(2πrh + πr²) = 2πr(2h + r)

A = 2 × 22/7 × 70 (2 × 140 + 70)

A = 44 × 10 × (280 + 70)

A = 440 × 350

Area to be tin coated, A = 154000 cm²

Cost of coating 1000 cm² area = ₹ 3.50

∴cost of coating 154000 cm²  = 154000 × 3.50/1000

= 154 × 3.50

= ₹ 539

Hence the cost of tin coating is  ₹ 539 .
