Answer:

See the step by step solution

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the number of observations is 12 that is even the median will be \frac{\frac{n}{2}th \ term +(\frac{n}{2} + 1)th \ term}{2} which means that the median is the mean of the 2 middle most terms. If the number of observations would have been odd then the median would have been the middle most term which is given by \frac{n}{2}th \ term

For example: consider the following data with 6 observations

1,2,2,3,6,6

these are in ascending order the median will be \frac{\frac{n}{2}th \ term +(\frac{n}{2} + 1)th \ term}{2}

Here n =  6

\frac{\frac{6}{2}th \ term +(\frac{6}{2} + 1)th \ term}{2}\\\\On \ solving \ we \ get\\\\\frac{3rd \ term + 4th \ term}{2} = \frac{2+3}{2} = \frac{5}{2} = 2.5

Similarly we can calculate when n is odd using the above stated formula that is  \frac{n}{2}th \ term
