Approximately 50,000 delivery boys employed across the country by food delivery service, Swiggy, and i am only one of them. Daily at 8 am,my day starts when the first of the restaurants open for service. Orders come streaming in and a big load of deliveries are give to me. The restaurant and the delivery location are in total and different opposite directions. I also have to reach perfectly on the correct time according to the ‘Estimated Time of Arrival” (ETA) and the customer will been notified. I hope that the restaurant isn’t crowded so that i can pick up the order quickly and without much delay.
I have to jostle with the other delivery persons to collect my orders and make a quick exit.
The job pays well, for now. I make between Rs 25000 – Rs 27000 per month. Which is good. I look for my first delivery address and make a dash for it, I have about 30 deliveries to make and complete in the whole day. And, then there is also the challenge of the response of the customer to the food i deliver...its too late...it has already become cold..i put up with this and apologise. There are few who compliment my work and i am happy that some people still do.
By the end of the day am exhausted. I am barely able to make it even to my own house every bone in my back hurts
