A dead body sinks in water when water enters into lungs.As it submerges inside the water, the body remains in water for sometime.After some time due to decomposition of matter inside the body by bacteria, the dead body becomes lighter than water and hence floats except head[ it will be submerged in water] because, head is made up of strong bones and it becomes denser.
