HELLO THERE!

Fuels mainly comprise hydrocarbons like methane, ethane, propane, butane, etc.

Hydrocarbons undergo combustion in three ways:

=> If there is enough oxygen supply, then carbon dioxide gas (CO₂) is liberated while combustion.

Example: CH₄ + 2O₂ ----> CO₂ + 2H₂O

=> If oxygen supply is not enough, then it undergoes incomplete combustion. In this case, carbon monoxide gas (CO) is liberated.

Example: 2CH₄ + 3O₂ ----> 2CO + 4H₂O

=> If there is very limited oxygen supply, then a black mass of carbon is left behind.

Example: CH₄ + O₂ ----> C + 2H₂O

According to your question, a gas is to be named which is produced due to incomplete combustion of fuel.

The gas is Carbon monoxide [stated in case (ii)].

It is poisonous, as it mixes with the haemoglobin of our blood to form a stable compound called carboxy-haemoglobin, which reduces the surface area of RBCs to carry oxygen to different cells and tissues. This may even lead to death.

HOPE MY ANSWER IS SATISFACTORY..

THANKS!
