Correct Question :

  • A dealer gets a watch fo Rs 375 and spends Rs.15 for packing it. If he wants to gain 12% profit, for what price should he sell the watch?

Answer :

  • Rs.436.8 should he sell the watch.

Given :

  • A dealer gets a watch for Rs.375 and spends Rs.15 for packing it
  • If he want to gain 12% profit

To find :

  • What price should he sell the watch

Solution :

Given,

A dealer gets a watch for 375 and spends 715 for packing it so,

↦ Total price of watch Rs(375 + 15) = Rs.390

Now , we have to find the selling price of watch

Given,

  • Gain 12 % profit so,

As we know that,

  • SP = CP + gain % of CP

Where,

  • SP is selling price
  • CP is cost price

↦ SP = CP + gain % of CP

↦ SP = 390 + 12% of 390

↦ SP = 390 + 0.12 × 390

↦ SP = 390 + 46.8

SP = 436.8

Hence, Rs.436.8 should he sell the watch.
