Given: Cost Price of the pair of shoes = Rs. 120

Loss suffered by the dealer on sale = 20%

To find: Selling price

Solution: Given that,

Dealer paid Rs. 120 for a pair of shoes and sold them at 20% loss.

i.e., Cost Price (CP) = Rs. 120

Loss (L) = 20%

Selling Price (SP) = ?

Selling \ Price = (1 - \frac{Loss}{100} ) \ of \ Cost \ Price

Selling \ Price = (1 - \frac{20}{100}) \ of \ Rs. 120

(\frac{100 \ - \ 20}{100}) \ * \ 120

\frac{80}{100} \ * \ 120 = 96

Hence, the dealer sold them for Rs. 96 which lead to a loss of 20%.
