CP = Rs 7660
SP = Rs 7660 + 10% of 7660 = 7660 +766 = Rs 8426
now, his discount on MP is 12 %
Let the MP be x
MP - discount = SP
⇒x - 12% of x = Rs 8426
⇒0.88x = 8426
⇒x = Rs 9575
so MP is Rs 9575

Given:

A dealer purchased a washing machine for rupees 7660. He allows a discount of 12% on its MP and still gains 10%

To Find:

find the MP of the machine.

Solution:

It is given that a dealer purchased a washing machine for Rs7660 so the cost price will be,

CP=7660

And he allows a discount of 12% on its MP, let the MP be x

MP=x

So the selling price will be marked price minus 12% of the marked price because he allows a discount of 12%

SP=x-12\%x\\=0.88x

So now applying the profit percentage formula where cost price is 7660, marked price is x and selling price is 0.88x, we have,

proft\%=\frac{SP-CP}{CP} *100\\10=\frac{0.88x-7660}{7660} *100\\766=0.88x-7660\\0.88x=8426\\x=9575\\

Hence, the Marked Price is Rs9575.
