Find 1%:

Difference in percentage = 5 1/2 + 4/12 = 10%

10% = Rs 1000

1% = 1000 ÷ 10 = Rs 100

Find the cost price:

1% = Rs 100

100% = 100 x 100 = Rs 10 000

Find the 4 1/2 % gain:

4 1/2% gain = 4 1/2% x 10 000 = 0.045 x 10 000 = Rs 450

Find the selling price:

10 000 + 450 = Rs 10 450

Answer: he should sell it at Rs 10 450
