  • Isomerism is the phenomenon in which more than one compounds have the same chemical formula but different chemical structures. Chemical compounds that have identical chemical formulae but differ in properties and the arrangement of atoms in the molecule are called isomers. Therefore, the compounds that exhibit isomerism are known as isomers.
  • Butane, or C4H10 , has two structural  isomers called normal butane, or unbranched butane, and isobutane, or i-butane. ( STRUCTURE IS ATTACHED )
  • b) Unsaturated hydrocarbons like ethyne produce a yellow flame when burnt in oxygen due to incomplete combustion in air. The percentage of carbon is comparatively higher than that of alkanes and so does not get completely oxidized in air.
  • c)  it act as a oxidising agent it oxidise alcohol
