a. The unit of momentum is the product of the units of mass and velocity. In SI units, if the mass is in kilograms and the velocity is in meters per second then the momentum is in kilogram meters per second (kg⋅m/s).

SI unit: kilogram meter per second kg⋅m/s

Other units: slug⋅ft/s

Conserved?: Yes

Dimension: MLT−1

b. i. An athlete runs before jumping to gain momentum. Because it helps in jumping higher and longer because of inertia of motion gained due to the motion. When the athletes Jump they already have a forward motion that would be greater than that of a jump made from standing in one spot.

ii. If someone tries to get out of a moving bus then the momentum makes the person move forward. A person might fall in the forward direction due to moment of inertia when the speed is fast. This can be explained by the Newtons's law of inertia.

iii. It is easier to push an empty shopping cart than a full one because the full shopping cart has more mass than the empty cart. Explain using Newton's Second Law Of Motion. angelmathew5002 is waiting for your help.

iv. According to Newton's third law of motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the man jumps from a boat, he applies force on the boat due to which boat moves backward. An equal force is exerted by the boat on the man which helps the man to jump out of the boat.
