a) Tidal power or tidal energy is harnessed by converting energy from tides into useful forms of power, mainly electricity using various methods. Although not yet widely used, tidal energy has the potential for future electricity generation. Tides are more predictable than the wind and the sun.

b) The rise of ocean water due to attraction of moon is called hight tide and its fall is called low tide. The energy obtained from tides is called tidal energy. The movement of water during high tide and low tide can be used to rotate turbine of generator and produce electricity. This is how tidal energy is harnessed.
