Explanation:

A democracy must look after the interests of all, not just one section . The following points support the statement:

a. Democracy is a government not of a majority section but people as a whole. It is a government which has to look into the interests and welfare of all the sections of people in a country be it rich or poor or belong to diverse ethnic groups. If it does so then, it a democratic government in a true sense. It is therefore, the basic feature of democracy.

b. It depends upon the government and political parties how they try to satisfy the interests of people in a democracy. If they prefer to promote the interests of majority neglecting the minority then it will be difficult for a democracy to sustain. As democracy promotes intersests of all not a single section.

c. Political parties may sometimes come under the influence of rich and powerful people. But for the sustenance of true democracy they must remember the needs and concerns of ordinary citizens.
