Explanation:

a).Hydrolysis Technique: It involves the use of boiling water to obtain a reduced solution of ferric chloride.

FeCl3 + 3H2O → Fe(OH)3 + 3 HCl

b).An aerosol is a collide of fine solid particles or liquid droplets, in air or other gas. Aerosols can be natural or artificial. Examples of aerosols are fog, forest exudates and geyser system.

Example of artificial aerosols are haze, dust, particulate air pollutants and smoke

C). Bredig's arc method: Bredig's arc method is method of preparation of colloidal solution of metals, like gold, silver or platinum.

  • This method contains both dispersion and condensation phase.
  • In this method an arc is struck among electrodes, under the surface of water containing some stabilizing agent such as traces of potassium hydroxide.
  • The extraordinary warmth of the arc vaporizes some of the metal which then condenses under cold water.
  • The water is kept cold as an ice bath. The colloidal particle is prepared by adding a small amount of KOH it.
