Step-by-step explanation:

Given Determine the power of pump required to lift 300 kg of water through a vertical height of 6 m in 9 seconds

  • So we need to find the power of the pump.
  • Given Mass m = 300 kg
  • So height h = 6m
  • Time t = 9 secs
  • So we have Power = Work done / Time taken
  • So P = W / T
  • But W = F x S
  • Substituting this we get
  •        P = F x S/ T
  •      Also F = mg
  •           Or P = mgh / T
  •                  = 300 x 10 x 6 / 9
  •                   = 2000 W
  • Or Powe = 2000 Watts
