A device that can put out fire is called as fire extinguisher.
There are different chemical that can be used in these fire extinguisher to produce mainly carbon dioxide gas. Here carbon dioxide gas is mainly used to put out the fire as it does not support the combustion and cut off the availability of oxygen gas because oxygen gas is high combustible gas.
The carbonate and bicarbonate salts are used to produce ‘carbon dioxide’ gas in fire extinguisher.
