  I have been very fortunate to have traveled the world extensively. You don`t mention anything about locations either domestically or internationally so I will provide two specific suggestions. If you have the flexibility to travel internationally I would highly recommend Australia. It is one of few places worldwide where "Yanks" as they call us, are truly welcomed with open arms. the moment they hear the American accent, they will literally flock around you to talk, ask questions or, if you are in need of help, go out of their way to be of assistance. You have to experience it to really appreciate it. Also, the exchange rate for American currency is very favorable. Personally I would recommend the Gold Coast (midway between Brisbane and Sydney or simply Sydney. I can assure you that a great time will be had by both of you. If, in fact, you want to remain in the U.S., Denver, CO would get my nod for this time of year. It`s incredible scenic, limitless fun things to do and easy access with their airport.
