A diary entry on effect of earthquake

Dear Diary:
The tragic anniversary of the earthquake catastrophe in Bhuj is approaching! No one can never ever forget that day! Buildings collapsed, earth was rent into two parts. A chasm many hundred meters deep appeared in the plates. Thousands of people died. Property worth billions of dollars was turned into rubble! I thank God until this day for saving my entire family. If we had not been traveling to Ooty at that time, we would surely have died. On return we saw our home razed to the ground. However, many of my friends and their families suffered irreparable losses. Would that tragedy never ever have happened! May the souls of all those who perished in that tragedy rest in peace!
I started today with making some breakfast for myself.
My parents had already left for work, and I was alone at home because of my holidays.
As I poured the milk into my cup, I saw that the surface of it is trembling.
Soon, I started feeling dizzy.
I looked up and saw that the ceiling fan was moving very rapidly.
I had read about these effects before, and soon realized that I was experiencing an earthquake.
So, I quickly locked my house, and went downstairs.
Everyone from my complex had also gathered there.
