Diary entry on the evening spent in the puja pandals of Kolkata.
8th October 2019.
Tuesday.
11: 30 PM.
Dear Diary,
As I have mentioned in earlier notes this week, that I came to spend my Durga Puja vacations with my maternal uncle and aunt who lives in Kolkata. And I’m very glad that I decided to come here this vacation.
It was an entirely different experience for me, as I have spent most of my puja vacations in my home town Patna. The puja pandal that we visited was in the Bara Bazaar area of Kolkata.
Most of visitors there were Bengalis and when they came to know that I’m visiting Kolkata for first time during Durga Puja, they became so welcoming, they took care that I can understand the rituals that were being performed and even tried to explain me everything in detail.
As today was last day of the puja, married women and all other girls were invited for Sindoor Khela, in which married women put Sindoor on each other as a symbol of bringing prosperity to each other lives.
Overall, it was such a unique and wonderful experience for me which I would cherish for my whole life and I would love to visit Kolkata again.
